Year 2

Year 2

In Year 2, we aim to develop life-long learners. Students are immersed in an engaging, dynamic curriculum that caters for individual student needs. We encourage 'Respectful Relationships' and embrace the Torquay College values of 'Respect', 'Friendship' and 'Doing Your Best'. Our Inquiry units include: Local Community, Animal Life Cycles, My Family History and Asia-Our Neighbour. Digital learning is a key part of our curriculum where students use technology to enhance their learning, such as coding with robotic devices as part of STEM learning.

Term 2, in Year 2

It has been a wonderful term 2 with the Year 2 students immersed in 'Animal Life Cycles'. The authentic learning experiences have included having chickens hatch from eggs within the classroom incubators, a trip to see the Melbourne Museum and 3D Flight of the Monarch Butterfly movie. The term culminated with each student studying a chosen animal to investigate in greater depth. All the students' hard work was on show at the Torquay College Science Expo, where the hallway and classrooms were awash with wonderful life cycle displays and projects.
