Guinea Pig Fun

‘Children who have pets or access to animals develop empathy, higher self-esteem, a positive outlook and are less lonely, restless and bored’ RSPCA Victoria. Our Year 5’s currently have the responsibility of caring for four furry female guinea pigs, Ginger, Lily, Batman and Nutmeg. During our recent novel study of ‘Charlotte’s Web’, the students were inspired to undertake learning in STEM by building their own Guinea Pig pen showing their understanding of basic animal needs, construction and collaboration.
