D block are Mean Green Recycling Machines.

During Term 1, the Year One classes at Torquay College have been discussing plastic waste and the impact it has on our oceans. We have discovered and were astonished, that a plastic bag takes 450 years to break down.

After some investigation and group discussion we decided there were a few ways we could help:

- Take reusable bags with you when you go to the shops

- When visiting our local beaches take all rubbish home

- Recycle items and packaging, using the soft plastic RED recycle bin located at our local Coles and Woolworths supermarkets

- Pack lunches in reusable containers and wrapping, so there is little waste

-Take 3 for the Sea, making sure every time we leave our local beaches we removed at least 3 pieces of rubbish.

We learnt that;

when soft plastics are disposed of properly, they can be recycled and made into plastic benches for everyone to enjoy.

So please think before you bin it, because there could be some use in it!
