Year 3 – Back In The Swing

Following on from exploring our school values and themselves as participants in their learning, students are now beginning to delve into core learning areas such as English, Numeracy and others.

A key focus in Numeracy this term is revising and extending knowledge of place value and related concepts, as a platform for many other Maths understandings. ‘MAB’ blocks (also known as multibase arithmetic blocks) are common fixtures in classrooms and provide useful physical and visual models to assist students in cementing these ideas.

Students were also kept active during a recent incursion where they learnt more about hockey, practising skills such as dribbling which they applied in activities that required teamwork and collaboration.
